Recovering From Ripoff Report

By Van Wildmost

Trying to do reputation management yourself can be very frustrating. Most of the information out there regarding increasing your online presence only tries to sell you something in the end. Search engine optimization articles tell you little bits and pieces of how to increase your blog subscribers or sell a product, but not how to take over the first page of real estate on the major search engines. I've looked at some companies with pretty bad reviews recently and conducted some research as to what the ones succeeding in reputation management are doing. Veritas Inc Atlanta is a marketing company in Buckhead, Georgia that is doing just that. In this post, I will reveal just what this company is doing to get rid of scam claims or former employee gripes on sites like ripoff report, complaints board, etc.

To gain a positive image through reputation management, you have to get online searches to look more positive. Check out this example of Veritas Inc Atlanta at Veritas Inc Atlanta on YouTube. It's a great example of relevant and cool info that people love. If there are negative search results that show up under your company name, people will click on those. People love negative news more than positive news. People look for things like bad reviews, negative reports, ripoff reports, scams, etc. They are actually searching for these terms online right now.

Being overwhelmed with your online reputation is pretty common. Many small business owners have the same trouble. Reputation management is possible, but is extremely time consuming. If you want to badly enough, you can influence the search engine results to shed a positive light on you and your company. The company, Veritas Inc Atlanta has a horrible page of search results. These results include a ripoff report and a listing on entry level job scams blog. Surprisingly enough, this blogspot blog ranks very highly. Apparently, a past employee didn't like that he was fired and wanted everyone else to know about it. Veritas Inc has some pretty important things to note as they are making progress with their online reputation.

There are many facets of reputation management that one article simply cannot cover. Here is one tip that I have learned that outranks the rest. Focus on your on-page SEO factors for your company's name followed by your company's name with the word 'reviews' after it. It turns out that when people are looking to buy your services or goods, they will search for your company's name on Google. Then, about thirty percent of them will search your company's name plus the word 'review' or 'reviews' right after. Most companies don't focus on their company's name as their keywords to rank for, but I highly suggest you start.

Backlinks will always be king. They serve as 'votes' in the eye of Google and can really help your pages rise through the search engine results. It is important to note, however, that several of these negative review sites like ripoff report don't have any backlinks to specific pages. That means that the owners of the sites aren't trying to optimize each page. This is your competitive advantage. Gain backlinks to your main page of course, but target specific pages as well.

Besides targeting your company's name and getting backlinks, you should look to get profiles set up on several different web 2.0 sites. Veritas Inc Atlanta has some pretty high ranking profiles set up on Youtube, Squidoo, etc. You can even use those to backlink to your other content. Whatever you do with these profiles is up to you, but make sure you've got some quality content on there that other people want to share. That will make your reputation management efforts easier. If people naturally link to your sites, you won't have to push so hard to get the links!

Reputation management is attainable, but extremely time consuming. If you've really got some bad stuff out there that you want to get pushed down, you may want to hire a professional. However, if you only have one or two things on the search results, you could probably do it yourself. Don't get frustrated. Prepare for the long haul, and you will eventually see your online reputation get better. After all, it takes a long time to gain back trust. The same goes with consumer opinion.
