Project managers usually have a lot of work as they oversee the project. However, they cannot effectively manage the project on their own without the help of other stakeholders. An important stakeholder is the CSM. This is a professional whose primary work is ensuring that the team has the right motivation to handle the tasks ahead of them. The professional sees to it that the team is equipped with the proper knowledge to run the project. There are several roles and characteristics of that a Scrum Instructor should have. Some of them are listed below.

The CSM is supposed to be very collaborative. He is thus supposed to create links between project owners and the team working on the project. Therefore, this expert ensures that the team is adequately motivated to work in that particular project. Also, this professional sees to it that the team is well nurtured. He makes all the critical decisions that affect the team.

This professional is not the manager of the project. He/she is a member of the team and a facilitator. He should, therefore, be a good listener and pay close attention to challenges that the team may be facing. The CSM should also be an observant person and take in the daily activities of his team. He should gauge the contribution of each member and should have strong leadership skills.

This professional should have knowledge about the project and discipline. Therefore, he should have the skills to solve upcoming issues and prevent future problems. For the CSM to be able to handle the issues and prevent any problems in the future, he should be knowledgeable about the product. Also, he should think of ways that the team can work to avoid any challenges and roadblocks.

Additionally, this professional must be very influential. He should be a person that the team members look up to and listen to. He should be able to influence the team to work hard to achieve their potential. This means that the CSM should be able to motivate and encourage the team to work in harmony so that they can meet the deadline of the project.

This expert also has various responsibilities that help in project management. He is the person who coaches teams in project management practices. More so, he creates the teams and sees to it that the organization has integrated them. He outlines the visions and goal of the project to the team members before the work kicks off.

At the end of each day during the project, the CSM meets with the entire team. These meetings are essential as the team will get information and updates from the project manager. The CSM will also be updated on the proceedings of the day. Additionally, he addresses issues that may have arisen.

This expert must be up to date with new technologies. He also must introduce new engineering skills and techniques to his team. In case the team members have to be trained on how to operate modern equipment, it is the responsibility of the CSM to train them in time.
