Know How To Start A Blog

By Frank Gibson

Blogging can be a lot of fun. But it is also a lot of hard work. Of course, this depends on how you go about it and what your intentions are. Some people want to take it more seriously and decide to make money out of it. Other people want to get their message across. There are people who want to learn how to start a blog, simply because this is something they want to do in their spare time.

Of course, it can be overwhelming. But this is part of the challenge. These days, it is a lot easier because there are platforms available as well as themes which are user friendly. In the past, people had to struggle with code. When you made a mistake, you had to try and figure out what you had done wrong. This could take many hours to fix. Often, only a professional could attend to this.

Once you decide what kind of blog you want to start, you need to decide on the platform and whether it is your own domain or whether you are going to use something that is free. There are pros and cons for every option and you have to weigh these up before you get started. There is also the hosting company to think about should you decide to buy a domain.

However, people who want to take this further and market their blog, are advised to buy their own domain. This means that they have their own address. They will also have their own hosting address which they pay for every month. The advantages of this is that there is more storage space where you back up your files to.

Of course, it is not a good idea to put your advertising on your blog as soon as you get started. You need to earn the trust of your readers. You should have a few posts on your blog before you get started. Let this grow somewhat before you advertise. You can market it with social media because this is often free and it is a good way in which it will grow.

You also need to work on the design. People want to come across a blog which is appealing. But they don't want to be put off by too many links and bright colors which can be distracting. It can also be off putting when a person seems as if they are forced to sign up to subscribe or like the website. It should also be easy to navigate.

These days it is easier to set up a blog from scratch. Themes are ready prepared and you can set these up easily because they are user friendly. They are often custom designed by web designers. It will cost you a little more, but it is definitely worthwhile than sitting and struggling with something that you are not used to. These days, you don't have to fiddle around with code, so this is obviously a very good thing.

This can be a good idea, because you can find someone at a reasonable price. You can ask for changes. They will do the logo according to the colors that go with your theme, for example. There are also websites that have a variety of themes which you can choose from and charge a once off rate. However, they are not unique. You need to weigh up your options once again.
