We always use electronic devices but may have not known what is behind its functionality. These use a Printed Circuit Board to associate one segment to another. Designing your own board was never acknowledged in the past few years. But today, some of the companies like custom PCB manufacturer accept this idea.
The first five steps on how to make a Printed Circuit Board are included here. For one, it is a must to get all your stuffs ready before starting doing something. You need to prepare your phototools. Films are to be made in this process, Laser Photoplotters are most needed. These will copy the information that the board has and make a copy of it through digital image. The film will come out from the photoplotters and will be forwarded to the following step after.
The interior is what you have to do next. An epoxy resin in layer and a core out of glass fiber that comes with a copper foil in all its four sides. Cleaning is highly needed. This part is covered with a photoresist. First to put is a film, then the panel which was covered and another film to follow. In the printer, there are pins that were set in the same line with the holes that the phototools and panel have. A certain lamp is used for the photoresist to toughen. Those which were not hardened are to be omitted. The toughen resist will cover the whole pattern.
There are unwanted copper that need to be removed using an Alkaline solution. You need to check the process to have an exact design. The photoresist that covered the image will be removed. And by this time, you have the exact pattern.
The inner core is now complete. The core will be put in an optical punch to line up and register the targets in the pattern. Registered holes will be punched, but the panel will undergo an inspection. There should not be any mistakes on the inner layer because you will not be able to correct them once it gets assembled with the multi layer. An automatic system will scan the board and will compare it to the original digital data. Any errors will be shown in your screen.
The next thing to do are the external layers. These are constructed from a piece of cloth that has an epoxy in it and a foil made from copper. They will merge with the internal layer that will be located at their center. The expected outcome of this process is the copper foil being the outer layer of your PCS after several operations.
There should also be a X ray drill of the reference holes, preparation of the stack for drilling, workout on the holes and cut off those resin that exceeded. Disposition of the electroless copper, having an image your outer layers, the plating, to etch the outer layers, apply soldermask, electroplate the gold edge connectors, silk screen and the cure, some electrical tests, profiling and the final inspection should also be done.
We need electronic devices to make our work easier. Without the presence of the PCB, these will never function properly. This is how important its role is.
Every now and then, we want to be unique among others. Making your own Printed Circuit Board could be a good start. Whether you have the equipments or not, you can still have it customized through some of the companies that will accept it. A lot of them, like the custom PCB manufacturer will help you have it personalized.
